When I was a little girl, my favorite Bible song was This Little Light of Mine.
You remember the lyrics:
This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine.
Hide it under a bushel…NO! I’m gonna let it shine.
I especially loved that NO part. With all my five-year-old vigor, I’d stomp my foot with a mindset that I would not hide it under a basket or let Satan snuff it out.
Today as a grown woman, I still adore that simple song. My elementary passion for its meaning has now flared into an adult passion where Jesus’ words in Matthew 5 burn within: Pam, let it shine. Let me borrow your vessel. I’ll place my Holy Spirit inside so others might see what I look like and give me glory. Yes, shine baby shine.
So “shine I shall!” And what’s the best part? The last stanza: Let it shine till Jesus comes. I’m gonna let it shine. What a life-transforming little tune!
